This fall we are helping families, churches and communities get and stay active with a fun, self-guided walking challenge called The 21-Day Gratitude TREK. This challenge includes over 30 ideas you can use to practice kindness and spread love while you walk. It’s the perfect tool for those who want to keep walking after the Prayer TREK, and the perfect training guide for those getting their families ready for our annual Black Family 5K. Best of all, it’s the perfect way to get and stay moving as we head into the holiday season and a time of gratitude!
Thanksgiving Weekend - November 23-26th, 2023
It’s a race to the finish line! Every year Black Family 5K brings together thousands of families across the country to enjoy a post-Thanksgiving walk. We give you everything you need to organize this race for your family in your neighborhood! It’s a raucous good time and the perfect healthy activity to incorporate as a new tradition in your home.
Galatians 5:22
It’s a fact. Hatefulness is filling our streets, unreason is flooding our timelines, injustice continues to ring across the land, and a health crisis is ravaging our families and communities.
Instead of giving into despair, the million Black women of GirlTREK are responding with a powerful call-to-action to pray, train, and celebrate with us this fall.
History has taught us that our faith communities are central to any fight for justice, that our families are the glue that keep us together, and that collective action inspires hope and creates solutions.
That’s why we are inviting our entire community to invite their churches and families to join us for a season of transformation.
Over 40 days (Yup. That’s right. It’s exactly 40 days from the start of the Prayer TREK to the conclusion of the Black Family 5k, and we know how spiritual and powerful the number 40 is), we will root down in faith, family and fitness for a season of total transformation.
You can participate in just one of the challenges, or you can lean into the fullness of the opportunity and do the Prayer TREK, 21-Day Gratitude TREK, and Black Family 5K. That’s our hope.
Share the good news! Use these flyers to invite your church, friends or family to join you.
GirlTREK is over one million Black women strong, united to walk, talk, and solve problems together. We believe that Black women deserve to live their healthiest, most fulfilled lives, and that our collective action will increase the life expectancy of Black women around the globe. Everyday we produce multi-media campaigns that inspire women to action, including the viral walking podcast Black History Bootcamp and the conversation series #DaughtersOf.
